![]() py file! This is a very unfortunate architectural choice. all dependencies are finished) when it’s running the appropriate. The problem is, the Airflow scheduler only checks for new runnable tasks (ie. py file, it looks at instances of the DAG class in the global namespace, and those are the DAGs it executes. py files is a DAG definition in our case. py files, and then in a “round-robin” manner, executes them: it runs one.py, two.py, three.py, and so on, where each of the. What happens is this:Įvery 30 seconds the Airflow scheduler (as configured) lists out all. To understand this I took the log line and looked it up in the Airflow source code. To understand this I looked through the logs, and found that indeed, the first time in the logs that Airflow notices that the insert can run is several minutes after the multi_wait finishes. Why does Airflow need 5 minutes to figure out that a task’s dependencies are all finished? This is a generic issue with Airflow, not specific to waits. Looking at the scheduler logs, we still have a problem: the multi_wait finishes at time X, but the insert is only launched at time X+5 minutes. ![]() We just generate a HQL with several SHOW PARTITION statements separated by and parse the resulting string to see what’s there and what’s missing. We realized this is inefficient, and we can just have one multi_wait task which checks all 3 partitions at once. ![]() In the example above, we’re waiting on 3 tables, and we generate 3 wait jobs. The Hive engine can handle these metadata queries easily, returning in less than a second. So by running the SHOW PARTITION (the syntax starts the same, but it’s a bit different on Hive) on Hive, we can get rid of 95% of the jobs on the Presto cluster, which were taking a long time to run, even though they’re just checking for the presence of a partition. Since all our DWH jobs run on Presto, our Hive execution engine is just sitting around idle handling metadata queries such as CREATE TABLE ( create tasks in the DAG). In our setup, where we’re running a separate master and worker, and using Celery for running worker tasks, the Airflow scheduler doesn’t respect the limits, similar to this bug report. Unfortunately, this feature in Airflow is buggy/broken. So if we have 32 worker slots, we can set up a wait pool with 24 slots, so no more than 24 waits can be running. With this, tasks can be assigned to pools, and per pool limits can be set on execution. The second thing we tried was to use Airflow’s pool feature. This change was easy to make, because we don't construct our DAGs "by hand" for each table, we have a helper function which does this (which also does the current_ds_wait:: stuff), so we just needed to make this change in one place. This way each DAG only ever has one wait job running. There a bunch of other tasks that we generate (such as tasks for running CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS), but let’s ignore that. So when our framework generates the DAG for this DWH job, it generates an insert task ( PrestoOperator operator), which depends on 3 wait tasks ( DsPartitionSensor operators), one for each table. For example, s3://dwh-bucket/company_metrics//datafile. ![]() We use S3, so in our case it looks something like s3://dwh-bucket///. Physically, these are essentially directories, each one holding the data files for that day’s data. The partitions are called ds at Facebook and logically show up as a column of the table, and you’ll find plenty of references to it if you read the Hive docs (because Hive was written at Facebook). Essentially we store (complete) daily, write-once slices of each table, which are generated by daily jobs. This is a feature available on Hive, and not really practical on eg. The other major design pattern from Facebook is the idea of daily partitioned tables. I described ds partitions in an earlier post: These are the list of tables where we need to wait for today's ds partition to land before we can run the SELECT (otherwise the result would be incomplete). Our framework parses the SQL snippets and extracts tables names after current_ds_wait. FROM curent_ds_wait :: table1 INNER JOIN curent_ds_wait :: table2 ON. ![]()

![]() ![]() What makes the deals sweeter is that every gameplay mechanic is polished to near perfection, insuring that every entry into this game is filled with excellent controls, beautiful graphics and a smooth framerate. Getting my hands on the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2, however, has rectified that mistake and I finally get to see what makes this title one of, if not the, best action games I've played in a long time.ĭeveloped by the talent at Platinum Games along with Sega and Nintendo, and supervised by the first game's director Hideki Kamiya (Yusuke Hashimoto directs this title), Bayonetta 2 is a love letter to Japan's '80 - cheesecake, intense action and incredible amounts of gore and violence. As a result, I missed out on stylized action gameplay reminiscent of the first Devil May Cry, as well as over-the-top weapons, large and epic boss battles, and most importantly, the powerful, sexy and very controversial protagonist herself. There are plenty of wide-open sections where exploration is the focus, rewarding hidden missions that give valuable life- or magic-increasing items, fun and goofy stealth side-missions starring Jeanne, rhythm game boss battles, and there are a large handful of legitimately jaw-dropping action sequences that put you in control while all sorts of chaos is happening around you.I was one of the unlucky gamers that never experienced Bayonetta's first foray into last gen consoles. It never falls into that trap that a lot of action games do of feeling like you’re just going from blocked-off combat encounter to blocked-off combat encounter until you reach the end of the level. A Witch’s Brewīayonetta 3 is more than just its combat, and in fact, one of the things it does even better than its predecessors is mixing up its gameplay styles at the drop of a hat. There’s definitely an adjustment period to remembering you must block, not dodge as Viola, but once I got used to it I ended up really enjoying Viola’s chapters as nice little breaks from the traditional demon-summon-heavy Bayonetta chapters. Witch Time, of course, is the temporary slow motion that gets activated when dodging an attack at the last second as Bayonetta but as Viola, you must instead time a block with her sword just before an attack hits her. By the end I was convinced: This sequel builds on everything that made the original great, and delivers one of the most satisfying action games I've played. The superb pacing and combat are just that good. At times, the writing feels ridiculous, but I still love how it plays. Bayonetta has historically had some of the wildest weapons in all of video games, but I think it’s easy to say that these top even her own previous games.Įvery aspect of Bayonetta 2 feels polished and focused. By the time I was finished, I had an arsenal of 10 weapons and nine demons to play with, all of which had their own skill trees with upgradeable abilities. There’s the versatile Ignis Yo-Yos which hit distant enemies with punch attacks, and close enemies with kick attacks the Dead End Express, which is, I kid you not, a literal demon train that Bayonetta can wield like a chainsaw or ride like a locomotive to careen into enemies and the Ribbit Libido, a mic stand that she can kick out like a rockstar and sing a little quip into in order to buff either her offense or defense. I didn’t have any issue with the lack of mixing and matching different weapon types, though, mainly because Bayonetta’s arsenal of weapons is insane and extensive. Instead, when you get a new weapon, it works as a set that has its own unique attacks for both punches and kicks. ![]() The other big new change to Bayonetta 3’s combat is the fact that you can no longer equip specific weapon sets to either Bayonetta’s arms or legs. It’s a real high risk vs high reward situation. What you really have to be careful about, though, is the rage meter of your summon – if that maxes out, they’ll turn against you and you’ll have no way of unsummoning them. One specific enemy type will multiply if they get killed by one of your demons, another type will nimbly dodge every attack they throw. Your summon can also be killed if they take too much damage, and there are even enemies that can outright destroy them with a single move, putting it on a cooldown timer before you can bring it back. For one, all it takes is one hit on Bayonetta to cancel the summon, and it takes much more magic to resummon than it does to keep a summon going. But Platinum does a really great job of keeping the power of summons in check as the campaign rolls on. It’s a hell of a power trip, and my first reaction to using the beastly Gomorrah to effortlessly take out enemies that would’ve taken me about 30 seconds of wailing on to defeat them was that this seemed quite overpowered. ![]() ![]() ![]() But the pièce de résistance of this song was Kesha tying up one of her dancers to a wooden board as she proceeded to bite out one of his organs and shower the crowd in glitter that poured out of the fake organ. This first song set the stage for the rest of the concert as Kesha danced provocatively around the stage with her dancers, no spot of anyone on stage was untouched. While Kesha’s vocals are just as good live as on her albums, what truly makes her shows so phenomenal is her theatrics and dancing. With a roar forming over the crowd, she appeared covered in leather stars connected by chains and a tight black bodysuit, leading out her two backup dancers on dog leashes wearing full face coverings that resembled red ball gags over their mouth. Kesha’s entrance to her first song “Cannibal” was one not to be forgotten. But nevertheless, as soon as the lights went out and Kesha took the stage, time was no longer an object, and the crowd pushed forward so that no one had any space to themself. The reason for this time was evident as a gigantic blow-up cactus, white tiger, rainbow, and mushroom slowly blew up on stage. The stage change between Who and Kesha took about 30 to 40 minutes. ![]() While Who was a warm-up to Kesha, she did not at all prepare the crowd for what was about to come once Kesha hit the stage. Her backing track was also turned down low which resulted in Who seeming miles away even though she was only about 15 people away from me. It is harder to mix sound at an outdoor show, however, Who’s mic was down so low that she could barely be heard even mid-crowd. The only negative aspect of the opener was the sound mixing. Even with having no clue who she was prior to the show, I felt my body move and head bop along as I was entranced with her performance. Who gave an energetic start to the show with her dance moves and interaction with the crowd. She came on stage in black pants and a red tank crop-top followed by her two male backup dancers. The first thing that needs to be known about a Kesha concert is that things are bound to get crazy. Nevertheless, Kesha defined the generations of Millennials and Generation-Z and that especially showed at her show with crowds full of young adults ready to party. ![]() Many parents wanted tier children to stay away from Kesha, whether it was because of her revealing outfits or her songs and attitude about drugs, alcohol and sex. From there, Kesha continued to release crazy, party songs and earned herself recognition as an off-the-rails pop artist. If you don’t recognize the name Kesha, you might’ve been living under a rock for the past 12 years. Needless to say, things came full circle for me when I saw Kesha with opening act Betty Who live outdoors at Stage AE on Sept. Uncontrollable losses can become important, however, in cases of gross deficiency of sodium intake. Normal loss of water and electrolytes in perspiration and expired air, about 900 mL, is considered to be unimportant in water and electrolyte homeostasis, because it is minor in comparison with renal and intestinal losses and functions. Normally 1.5 to 2 L of water and 2.3 g of sodium are lost each day in the urine about 100 mL of water and 350 mg of sodium are eliminated daily in the faeces. The standard 70-kg human adult contains approximately 69 g of metabolically active sodium and 45 L of water. Water and electrolyte balances are maintained by dietary intake in food and water and loss in urine, faeces, perspiration, expired air, active renal filtration, and ion absorption mechanisms. In domestic water softening using ion-exchange resins, for every 40 mg of calcium per litre exchanged the sodium concentration in the treated water will rise by 46 mg/L. Correction of pH with sodium hydroxide can cause a 12 mg/L increase in sodium depending on the buffering capacity of the water. Processes used to reduce lead and copper solvency in water supplies, involving partial desoftening of water, can increase sodium content by approximately 30 mg/L. Other sodium-containing chemicals are used in water processing: sodium fluoride (NaF) or sodium silico-fluoride (Na 2SiF 6) for fluoridation sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium carbonate (Na 2CO 3), and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO 3) for corrosion control sodium hypochlorite (NaHClO 3) for disinfection and certain coagulants. The lime-soda ash purification process may contribute significant quantities of sodium if a large concentration of non-carbonate hardness must be removed. Large amounts of sodium-containing chemicals used in the treatment of public water supplies, as well as in domestic water-softening processes, can be important sources of sodium in drinking water. Footnote 15 In western Europe and North America, present sodium chloride consumption is estimated to be 5 to 20 g/day, with an average of approximately 10 g/day (which would supply 4 g of sodium per day). There are, as well, wide variations in sodium intake levels between individuals, and in the same individual from day to day. In Manitoba, where some supplies have 250 mg/L of sodium, Footnote 9 the contribution to total daily sodium could be about 400 mg or 15 percent. Some drinking water supplies have high sodium concentrations, influencing the impact of drinking water on total sodium intake. Footnote 9 Any estimate of total daily intake of sodium could be greatly altered by addition of salt to food during meal preparation or at the table. Footnote 12 Assuming a daily intake of 1.5 L of drinking water Footnote 14 at the national median sodium concentration of 5.6 mg/L, drinking water would contribute only 0.3 percent to the total sodium intake. Footnote 12 Thus, it is concluded that more than 80 percent of sodium in the Canadian diet is contributed by processing of foods by the food industry or in the home. Footnote 13 A 2500-kcal diet composed of unprocessed foods only contains 460 mg of sodium. Footnote 8 Levels, however, are still below the natural sodium concentrations found in many other surface water systems.Ī diet based on Canadian figures for food consumption contains 1.15 g of sodium per 1000 kcal per day, or 2.9 g of sodium per person per day (assuming a daily intake of 2500 kcal per person). Lawrence River system indicate that sodium levels for the system below Lake Huron have been steadily increasing as a result of anthropogenic activities. Footnote 8 The data accumulated over recent years for the Great Lakes -St. Footnote 4 For example, concentrations of 0.7 mg/L at the mouth of the Coppermine River, Northwest Territories, and 305 mg/L for the closed basin waters at Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, have been reported. Sodium concentrations in Canadian surface waters range from less than 1 mg/L to more than 300 mg/L, depending upon the source of the sodium and the geography of the area. In ground waters, sodium concentrations normally range between 6 and 130 mg/L Footnote 7 much higher levels may be associated with saline salts as noted above. Sodium concentrations vary considerably depending on regional and local hydrological and geological conditions, the time of year, and salt utilization patterns. Because of the high solubility of sodium minerals, sodium is ubiquitous in the water environment. ![]() ![]() HV focuses on supporting families of infants and young children (0-5 years).ĭuring pregnancy and at birth, home visitors encourage positive behaviors and healthy nutrition to prevent poor pregnancy outcomes (e.g. Nonprofit sector – service providers/grantees.State – DCF (lead implementing agency), DHS (TANF funding), DOH (administrative lead for MIECHV funding).Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS)/Help Me Grow (HMG).Ongoing Training & Technical Assistance.Home Visiting in New Jersey is founded on building relationships and a shared vision to… ![]() In an innovative and successful public-private partnership New Jersey’s Home Visiting Initiative has built a state and local system to improve early service linkages to pregnant woman, parents and families.
